Purpose:Provide developmentally appropriate, language-rich instruction and academic support for English learners from Pre-K through 5th grade. Use play-based strategies for early childhood and standards-aligned instruction for elementary grades to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing; scaffold grade-level content; support social-emotional development; and partner with families and colleagues.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Current Kansas State PROFESSIONAL Teaching License with ESOL Endorsement on file in the District Office (elementary license with ESOL endorsement that includes Pre-K/PRK)
- Experience teaching English learners at the elementary level is preferred.

This position will support English learners at Prairie Creek Elementary School and Meadowlark Elementary School.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :- Plan and deliver differentiated ESOL instruction across Pre-K–5 that is developmentally appropriate and standards-aligned: play-based, oral-language-rich activities for Pre-K and explicit literacy/academic language instruction for K–5.
- Employ ESOL best practices (visuals, gestures, modeling, repetition, sentence frames, scaffolds) and adjust approaches by age and proficiency.
- Implement push‑in, pull‑out, small‑group, and co‑teaching models to scaffold classroom content and support access to grade‑level standards.
- Use formative and summative assessments (observations, language samples, progress monitoring tools, KELPA or local equivalents) to determine language levels, set goals, and track growth.
- Differentiate lessons and interventions for diverse language proficiency levels and special needs; collaborate with special educators and specialists for IEP/504 coordination.
- Develop and teach targeted lessons for vocabulary, phonics/phonological awareness, comprehension, writing, and oral language across grade bands.
- Contribute to the development of school and classroom climates that validate home languages and cultures.
- Engage families through regular communication.
- Adhere to the KSDE English Learner Framework, and maintain accurate records: eligibility, progress monitoring, attendance, family contacts, and required documentation.
- Participate in and contribute to school and district teams (ESOL, grade‑level, MTSS, Student Based Support Team), co‑plan with classroom teachers, and lead or attend professional development as applicable.
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment through appropriate classroom management.
- See that district policies are observed during all activities.
- Obtain advance approval for all expenditures.
- Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of language acquisition processes, ESOL instructional methods, and high-quality instructional resources.
- Familiarity with the KSDE English Learner Framework and the Kansas English Language Proficiency Standards.
- Knowledge of Federal Title III requirements and guidance.
- Strong cultural competency, family engagement skills, and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
Environmental Conditions:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and/or reach.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
