Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for an upcoming locum tenens opportunity in Anderson, South Carolina, providing inpatient behavioral health coverage due to a temporary physician shortage. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team, work with a manageable patient volume, and practice in a well-supported hospital setting.

• Location: Anderson, SC

• Practice Setting: Hospital-based Behavioral Health Unit

• Coverage Dates: Starting May 2026 (exact dates TBD)

• Reason for Coverage: Maternity leave

• Patient Population:

  • Adults: 60%

  • Geriatric: 40%

• Average Daily Census: 20 patients in the Behavioral Health unit

• EMR: EPIC

• Schedule: Varies based on patient volume

• Call Coverage:

  • Call ratio: 1:4

  • One provider on call at a time

  • Four physicians share call coverage

• Mid-Level Support: 1 NP (locum will provide supervision)

• Prescribing narcotics as clinically indicated

• Pre-admission screening review and documentation per CMS guidelines

• Weekly care plan documentation

• Discharge summaries and medication reconciliation

• 24-hour lab availability

• 24-hour anesthesia availability

• Behavioral Health unit setting

• Comprehensive malpractice coverage provided

• Complimentary travel and lodging

  • Flight, hotel, rental car or mileage

• Pay rates are negotiable and discussed upon interest

• Board Certified Psychiatrist

• Active South Carolina license

• NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days)

• BLS / ACLS Preferred

• Fellowship training Preferred
