Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a Controls Engineer direct hire position in Anderson, Indiana.
Responsibilities:- Design and implement electrical control systems, pneumatic control systems, and software solutions to meet custom machine build requirements.
- Work within a machine design/build environment to develop automation solutions from concept through completion.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers, Panel Builders, internal engineering teams, sales, and customers to execute projects successfully.
- Program robots and develop control logic from scratch, while also modifying and optimizing pre-written code to ensure proper machine functionality.
- Utilize AutoCAD or Solid Works to support electrical and controls design efforts.
- Estimate project time and cost requirements; manage scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support customers with technical questions during installation, commissioning, and post-installation phases.
- Assist in overall project management, typically overseeing 1–2 projects at a time with durations of 4+ months.
- Lead projects ranging from customer-provided machine specifications (requiring limited programming) to full concept-to-build solutions requiring complete design, build, and programming ownership.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the full machine development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, costing, procurement, assembly, software installation, integration, and final validation.
- Ensure seamless automation integration by applying strong knowledge of electrical controls, pneumatics, and system functionality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field).
- 3–5+ years of experience in controls, automation, or machine building environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar software) for electrical design, including control cabinets, wiring schematics, and safety diagrams.
- Experience programming PLCs, preferably Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms.
- HMI development experience for machine interfaces and operator controls.
- Hands-on experience with robotics integration (Fanuc or Epson preferred) and pneumatic systems.
- Strong programming capability — experience with top-down programming preferred, though strong troubleshooting and code editing skills will also be considered.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, smaller machine builder environment.
- Experience commissioning equipment both in-house and occasionally at customer sites.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% (primarily local or day trips).
- TERMS: This is a direct hire position that pays from $80,000 - $115,000/yr.
