To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Performs heavy physical labor; grounds maintenance to include picking up litter, shoveling, plowing, sanding, and other seasonal related maintenance; directing traffic; greasing and light equipment maintenance such as lights and tire repairs; operating sanders, water trucks, small loaders/skid steers, compactor, cherry pickers. Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year experience in the operation of solid waste transfer and disposal facilities or equivalent elsewhere; to include experience in operating light and medium equipment.
All Applicants Must Possess and/or Obtain:- A valid State of Alaska Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement, no airbrake or transmission restrictions at time of hire. Applicants with a restriction of "L-Vehicles Without Air Brake Systems Only" and "E-Automatic Transmission Vehicles Only" are not eligible.
- A satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
- Satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory background check. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's State of Alaska Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement and no air brake or transmission restrictions; and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaska driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
