Cargo Logistics Agent (Full-time, ANC Airport Location with Security Clearance)
Open position at Akima Infrastructure Services, part of Pegasus Aviation Services. The role requires knowledge of bonding & storage plans and includes a variety of warehousing duties, freight handling, and customer service responsibilities. Candidates will be required to work in inclement weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and may need to operate forklifts or power trucks.
Responsibilities- Verify materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations, storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
- Operate forklifts, hand or power trucks to perform warehousing duties.
- Operate a manually controlled diesel, electric or liquid propane gas powered forklift to transport goods and materials of all kinds within a warehouse or other establishment.
- Run freight and mail to and from the aircraft, the post office and the warehouse facility; loading and unloading of cargo on a daily basis is expected.
- Arranges transport of goods with shipping or freight companies.
- Notifies consignees, passengers or customers of the arrival of freight and arranges for delivery.
- Advises clients on transportation and payment methods.
- Prepares manifests showing mail, freight weights and transmits data to destinations.
- Determines methods of shipment and prepares bills of lading, invoices and other shipping documents.
- Understands and is proficient in hazardous material handling and shipping requirements.
- Checks import/export documentation to determine cargo contents and classify goods into different tariff groups.
- Estimates freight or postal rates and records shipment costs and weights.
- Retrieves stored items and traces lost shipments as necessary.
- Manages files and records for each airline or customer.
- Completes daily sales report for each customer with proper disbursement of reports and records.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates high level of expertise in Windows based computer programs, i.e. Excel and Word.
- Has previous customer service experience.
- Is at least 18 years of age.
- Willing to work in inclement weather.
- Can lift 50 pounds comfortably.
- Has knowledge of principles and methods cd moving goods by air, including the relative costs and benefits.
- Has knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Can speak to others to convey information effectively to ensure proper cargo handling.
- Has time management skills.
- Is friendly and outgoing.
- Is customer and team oriented.
- Is a U.S. citizen or shows proof of right to work in the U.S.
- Possesses a valid Driver's License Découvrez.
- Can work under stressful situations and tight time constraints.
- Is self‑motivated and a team player.
- Required to work nights, weekends, holidays and varying schedules.
- Successfully completes a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history and pre‑employment drug test.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively one‑to‑one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract Cinderella multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- May lift or move with help up to 200 pounds, more frequently 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
