What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will play an integral part in keeping vulnerable adult Alaskans safe. You will be responsible for receiving and investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. You will assess an adult’s decision-making abilities and provide voluntary supportive services or involuntary protective services based on needs through advanced-level casework, service plan development, preparing legal forms, attending court hearings or mediation, and providing testimony as necessary.

You will serve a wide range of individuals who may be experiencing significant behavioral, medical, mental health, and socioeconomic needs throughout an adult’s lifespan.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is in East Anchorage, next to East High School. Work hours can be flexible within the general state hours of operation. Teleworking is an option after an initial training period.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below:

  • Investigation: Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with investigation, including interviewing, evidence detection, locating, gathering, and handling, and drawing appropriate factual inferences and conclusions. Provide oral or written reports of findings. Presenting evidence and providing testimony.
  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
  • Decisiveness: Makes well-informed, effective, and timely decisions, even when data are limited or solutions produce unpleasant consequences; perceives the impact and implications of decisions.
Special Notice
  • This position requires the ability to travel frequently within the state of Alaska by both automobile and aircraft, in all weather conditions.
  • This is a Non-Permanent PCN.
