Job Description
ABSS Solutions, Inc. (ASI) provides Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate services in support of the US Air Force Family Advocacy Program (FAP) at multiple OCONUS (Outside of the United States) Military Bases including Alaska, Japan, and South Korea. The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate (DAVA) will become part of the US Air Force FAP designed to address family maltreatment. The FAP advocates for nonviolent communities through the use of broad-based education and awareness activities along with the identification and treatment of family maltreatment incidents.
THIS POSITION IS AT JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON (JBER) IN ANCHORAGE, ALASKA.
The victims’ safety is the Victim's Advocate top responsibility and priority. The DAVA:
- Provides 24 hour/7 days a week response to victims alleging domestic abuse.
- Develops safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments.
- Partners with the FAP treatment/case manager to support the victim and promote safety for the victim and children in the home.
- Supports the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager (FATM) to develop System Advocacy, Education and Public Awareness, promoting a coordinated community response to domestic abuse and Collaborates with the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) to establish protocols.
- Is a member of the installation Family Advocacy Committee (FAC) and reports to the Family Advocacy Officer (FAO). The Victim Advocate participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of installation domestic abuse policies and protocols.
- Supports the Family Advocacy Program (FAP), Outreach Program (OP) and New Parent Support Program (NPSP) prevention activities. The Victims Advocate will actively participate in all resiliency initiatives designed to prevent domestic abuse.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any of the following disciplines:
Social Work;
Psychology;
Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling;
Counseling or Behavioral Science;
Criminal Justice, or related field.
Experience: 2 years of validated experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of DA or sexual assault.
Certification: Upon hire, or within six-months of hiring, must obtain the Basic Advocate credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist as approved and offered by the National Advocate Credentialing Program, which is overseen by the National Organization for Victims Assistance.
