Overview

Join the dynamic team at the Alaska Airlines Center (AAC) as a Crowd Management member. Located on the campus of The University of Alaska Anchorage, AAC is a 196,000 square foot facility that seats up to 5,000 spectators and hosts UAA Seawolves basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, concerts, performances, and events. This part-time position is essential to creating memorable experiences for event attendees.

• Oversee the smooth ingress and egress of attendees.
• Implement emergency response protocols as needed.
• Ensure strict adherence to venue and university policies.
• Contribute to creating a secure and enjoyable atmosphere to support a wide range of events.

• Be at least 21 years old (age requirement to comply with state alcohol regulations).
• Active TAPS certification, or ability to obtain certification before the first day of work.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess strong physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Previous experience in event security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is advantageous.
• Exhibit excellent observational and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential issues.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations and handle confrontational or challenging individuals.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.
• FERPA certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
• Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
• Behavior Based Safety (BBS) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
• Workplace Harassment Prevention certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
• Protecting Payment Card Information training (annual training).

This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.

Salary: $20.47
