About the Position

- Serve as the security program specialist and security advisor for the 673d Medical Group, monitoring the overall security administration program on an organization-wide basis.
- Conduct staff assistance visits, and serve as the organization’s primary point of contact for security activities, inspections, and Air Force level reviews.
- Direct security training requirements and procedures, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.
- Prepare requests for the issuance and control of restricted area badges, processing of security clearances, and other functions within the security area.
- Review, evaluate, and adjudicate reports of investigations, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues.
- Conduct periodic security checks of cleared facilities to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and installation security programs.
- Lead security investigations for incidents involving the actual or possible loss, compromise, or inadvertent disclosure of classified information.
- Direct organization-wide unit inspections to ensure that personnel are receiving appropriate security education and customer support.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee’s first day of employment.
