At the direction of the Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH) Security Director and the Security Deputy Director, the Security Captain provides overall supervision of the security workforce at the Alaska Regional Hospital, adjoining Medical Office Buildings, any additional buildings, parking lots, garages, and respective grounds (the ARH/CBRE Facilities). The Captain manages the workforce, assigns tasks and posts, ensures completion of all training requirements, and implements the Quality Control Program.
The role includes incident reporting, statistical reporting for the client, payroll reporting, evaluations, discipline, commendations, and overseeing all responses to emergency and non‑emergency situations. The Captain also fills in for the ARH Security Deputy Director when necessary.
- Full‑time regular position on a rotational schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off).
- Supervise, assign, and manage the security workforce.
- Ensure all training, documentation, and خدمة compliance.
- Direct or oversee emergency responses through subordinates.
- Perform administrative duties such as incident reports, statistical reports, payroll reports, evaluations, discipline, and commendations.
- Act as backup Facility Security Director/Deputy Director when required.
- Respond physically to security incidents after normal work hours as needed.
- Prepare and manage daily operations, schedules, actions, recognition, uniform orders, equipment orders, and personnel actions.
- Plan and conduct training per The Joint Commission, International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, ARH Security Management Plan, HCA policies, and other authorities.
- Coordinate with client representatives and DUS leadership on performance and emergencies.
- Maintain and enforce parking lot, garage, and vehicle code policies.
- Operate security equipment, radios, and related tools reliably.
- Provide operational and administrative reports with appropriate detail.
- Maintain client-required incident data and ensure timely notification to law enforcement and emergency responders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
- Completion of a Defensive Driving Course.
- Current State of Alaska Security Guard license.
- Experience in state or federal law‑enforcement, peace officer, military, or equivalent training program.

Three (3) years of law‑enforcement, military, or supervisory facility security experience. - Two (2) years of supervisory experience with commercial security officers, military, or law‑enforcement personnel.

- At least 21 years of age.
- Current Emergency Trauma Technician certification.
- Completion of a Law Enforcement or Military Supervisor’s Training Academy.
- Knowledge of Hospital Security procedures.
- Knowledge of developing and implementing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
- One (1) year experience in planning and executing required drills and exercises at a regulated facility.
- Knowledge of developing and implementing Security Post Orders consistent with regulated facilities.
- Experience maintaining a Security Officer Training Program.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Knowledge of physical protection techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of trespass, search, seizure, and arrest laws applicable to client property and equipment.
- Ability to assess incidents, initiate controls, and mitigate threats.
- Extensive knowledge of the ARH Facility Security Plan, Emergency Operations Plans, and Security Post Orders.
- Knowledge of DUS policies and procedures for reporting and standard operating procedures.
- Effective report writing and briefing skills.
- Understanding of the duties and functions of security officers.
- Ability to manage resources and outcomes associated with supervision.
- Capability to patrol vehicles and specialized equipment safely.
- Pass physical, drug screening, and background investigations.
- Maintain composure under extreme stress and make sound decisions.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency.
- Maintain required certifications for Emergency Trauma Technician and Defensive Driving when required by contract.
