Duties Help
* Serve as the security program specialist and security advisor for the 673d Medical Group, monitoring the overall security administration program on an organization-wide basis.
* Conduct staff assistance visits, and serve as the organizations primary point of contact for security activities, inspections, and Air Force level reviews.
* Direct security training requirements and procedures, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.
* Prepare requests for the issuance and control of restricted area badges, processing of security clearances, and other functions within the security area.
* Review, evaluate, and adjudicate reports of investigations, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues.
* Conduct periodic security checks of cleared facilities to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and installation security programs.
* Lead security investigations for incidents involving the actual or possible loss, compromise, or inadvertent disclosure of classified information.
* Direct organization-wide unit inspections to ensure that personnel are receiving appropriate security education and customer support. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
* Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
* Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee's first day of employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;
philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience:
In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience which includes assisting in security awareness educational trainings or briefings, conducting security inspections or evaluations, identifying security threats or issues, and providing security guidance to personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education:
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

EDUCATION:
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
