Position: NANA SHAREHOLDER COLLEGE INTERNSHIP - Kuna Environmental Intern Paid Internship

Job Description

Assists Environmental Department Leads, Project Managers, and/or various division managers with all aspects of environmental project work from field work to data collecting and reporting by performing any of the following duties.

NANA will provide lodging and transportation for applicants outside the Anchorage/Matsu Valley area. For more details, feel free to reach out! Internships will run from June to August with some flexibility based on individual availability.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a variety of environmental projects under supervision as assigned.
  • Assist with preparation of investigation and work plans and remedial action plans.
  • Perform soil and water sampling according to standard procedures.
  • Record field observations in a concise, accurate, and legible manner.
  • Compile and analyze data and assist with drafting reports and work plans.
  • Share lessons learned and strive for continual program and personal improvement.
  • Provide team communication.
  • Conduct quality checks of databases, documents and reports, to verify accuracy of data, information, and calculations.
  • Assist in preparing, maintaining and filing of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and company information.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Must be a shareholder of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., or a direct descendant of a shareholder. In accordance with NANA's Shareholder Preference Hiring Policy, priority will be given to NANA shareholders first, followed by shareholder descendants.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.
  • College sophomore level or higher with degree declared in Environmental Sciences or directly related field.
  • Intermediate skillset with MS Word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software. Some exposure to computer aided drafting and engineering software preferred.
Preferred Requirements
  • Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy is preferred.

Weather:
Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level:
The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:

Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel:
Employee may travel up to 25% to various locations within the U.S. and/or remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of employees, clients and vendors
