Bartender - Full-Time
The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for a full-time Bartender to join our team. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel sits on the shores of Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage. The property features 248 guest rooms and three food and beverage outlets, and we strive to deliver a memorable guest experience.
The role of the bartender is to serve beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests, and ensure guests have an enjoyable dining and drinking experience.
Typical duties of the bartender- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and prudent portion control.
- Receives cash from guests, makes change as needed, verifies validity of charges, and records charges; balances money to audit reports.
- Locks up and stores beverages, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank. Cleans banquet bar at the end of each function.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Maintains proper and adequate setup of the bar on a function basis.
- Ability to read, speak and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
- Working knowledge of spirits, wine and beer and standard drink recipes.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
- Works well under pressure.
- Must be able to identify signs of intoxication and willingly refuse service based on observation.
- Must be 21 years of age and have a valid TAMS and food handler card.
- Have patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Requires lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
- Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner.
- Be professional in all interactions with guests and associates.
- At least one or more years of bartending experience required.
