Job Overview
This is a pool from which the College of Arts and Sciences will draw when research technicians are needed to work on sponsored projects. This is a part‑time temporary position. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of employment. College of Arts and Sciences conducts applied and fundamental scientific research and collects, synthesizes, archives, and distributes data, specimens, and knowledge, partly through conducting field work.
ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of data collection procedures, data entry procedures, computerized spreadsheets and databases. Ability to manipulate data to produce charts and graphs to display trends in data. Ability to interpret data results for reporting. Ability to work in remote locations, sometimes in extreme conditions. Ability to coordinate/lead the activities of others.
Qualifications by Level- Research Technician 1: High school graduation and 6 months experience in field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 2: 1 year of relevant college coursework and 1 year experience in relevant field, or equivalent combination training and experience.
- Research Technician 3: 2 years relevant college coursework and 2 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 4: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 1: High school graduation and 6 months experience in field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 2: 1 year relevant college coursework and 1 year experience in relevant field, or equivalent combination training and experience.
- Research Technician 3: 2 years relevant college coursework and 2 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 4: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part‑time, non‑exempt temporary position. New hires will be placed on the Temporary Salary Table and the Grade is determined based on education and experience. This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed.
