Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services to accomplish the individual customer-owner plan of care. This involves independently and consistently using the nursing process to safely, therapeutically, and efficiently care for customer-owners with subtle and sometimes unidentified needs. This position supports the operations of the Brother Francis Shelter, Covenant House, and Detox Center. The functions include applying nursing knowledge, collecting health data, analyzing data, reporting changes, implementing care plans, and evaluating progress, working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
Duties are representative and not exhaustive; incumbents may perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
SCF programs primarily serve Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s service area. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of this population's cultures and needs to support SCF’s vision of wellness and its mission of working with the Native Community to achieve health and wellness through services:
- Licensed in Alaska as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional certifications (ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, PALS) as needed for specialty areas.
- Obtain Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) approval within three years of provisional provider application approval from the State of Alaska.
Native Preference:
SCF pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training under P.L. 93-638, as amended.
Employee Health Requirements:
Compliance with Employee Health procedures is mandatory. All employees must meet health screening and immunization requirements before employment, including documentation of MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap, and COVID-19 immunizations.
