Salary: GS‑9: $69,789.00 – $90,731.00
GS‑10: $76,854.00 – $99,904.00
Recruitment incentive: up to 20% or relocation incentive: up to 15% (eligible if conditions met). Incentives cannot be combined.
Major Duties- Perform installation, maintenance, and operational testing of the Bureau’s communication and intrusion systems.
- Maintain and service a wide variety of complex equipment across FM radio, radio teletype, secure telephone, data, and intrusion systems.
- Use test equipment and advanced techniques to install, maintain, repair, and operationally test FM radio systems including base stations, repeaters, remote and mobile transmitters/receivers, and personal equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting and testing equipment for reliability and accuracy to prevent breakdown.
- Perform corrective maintenance to restore systems out of operating condition, including analytical testing, component replacement, and repair.
- Review technical manuals, stay current with technology, and attend government-sponsored training as required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret‑SCI clearance.
- Some travel may be required.
Work requires strenuous physical exertion such as climbing tall ladders or towers, long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
Work EnvironmentHigh-risk environment with exposure to electrical shocks, falls from high towers, inclement weather conditions, and hazardous situations. Safety precautions and accompaniment by another technician may be required.

- At least one year of SE equivalent to GS‑7 level, including physical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic communication systems.
- Work on FM radio systems, data networks, or electronic physical security systems.
- Inspect equipment for adherence to standards and tolerances.
- At least one year of SE equivalent to GS‑9 level, including utilization of test equipment and accepted techniques to perform installation, maintenance, repair, and operational testing in FM radio systems, data networks, and/or electronic physical security systems.
- Performed work with AC and DC circuits, reading schematics, identifying components, installing components, and soldering.
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Degrees eligible for substitution must be in one of the following fields:
Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or Telecommunications.
GS‑9:
Applicant must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B./J.D. (if related).
GS‑10:
Education cannot substitute for SE at the GS‑10 level.
Foreign education may be used if comparable to a U.S. accredited institution.
