The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill an Environmental Services, Journey 2 position located at the McLaughlin Youth Center.
What You Will Be DoingThis position is responsible for independently inspecting and maintaining a clean and sanitized environment at the McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC). This includes cleaning the administration offices, probation offices, medical suite, training room, school, classrooms, and gymnasium. Responsibilities encompass vacuuming, dust mopping, wet mopping, waxing and buffing tile floors in the cafeteria and school, as well as waxing and buffing the gymnasium floor.
Additionally, the role involves bonnet buffing and spot cleaning carpeted areas, emptying trash receptacles, washing windows, doors, walls, and light fixtures, cleaning whiteboards, arranging chairs, and ensuring the cleanliness of building entrances, including removing snow and ice from sidewalks and steps during winter months.
The position also entails cleaning restroom facilities in both public and support service areas, which includes cleaning urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, light fixtures, windows, doors, walls, emptying trash, wet mopping floors, and checking and refilling paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.
Additionally, this role includes supervising and training juvenile residents assigned to perform custodial duties throughout the facility, with a primary focus on safety and security.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThis position is located within the McLaughlin Youth Center, a 24‑hour secure facility at 2600 Providence Drive in Anchorage. It is a full‑time position with work hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, including a lunch period from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
