About the Position

This position is located with the U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK) Staff Judge Advocate at Fort Richardson, AK. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.

• Serves as the Installation's senior civilian attorney and Chief of the Administrative Law Division.
• Plans, directs, and executes programs in various areas such as administrative law, travel and transportation, ethics, community relations, military personnel law, funding and appropriations, and Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act requests.
• Reviews and provides definitive legal opinions to ensure compliance with Department of the Army and Department of Defense policies and regulations.
• Provides oral and written advice and legal opinions on proposed command policies and regulations.
• Responsible for the overall development, management and implementation of the command's ethics program.
• Plans, directs and executes all facets of the Financial Disclosure Management program.
• Directs and supervises military and civilian attorneys engaged in providing legal advice and assistance for a multi-mission installation.
• Plans, assigns, reviews and coordinates the work of subordinates practicing in complex programs.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance for access for the duration of employment.
• This position requires the incumbent to maintain active bar membership, in good standing (as defined by the pertinent bar) of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
• This position is subject to a Temporary Duty or business travel requirement of 10% or less of the time.
