Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Program Manager oversees daily operations and activities for the Alaska Civics in Action project. The Program Manager will oversee one Program Coordinator and three Educational Specialists. The project entails management of four tiers of programming designed to support the advancement of patriotic education for teachers and students through a partnership with the Anchorage School District and Alaska Pacific University.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for execution of grants project goals and deliverables.
  • In coordination with the Sr. Program Manager, create and maintain community partnerships, and create organization program protocols.
  • Supervise the Program Coordinator and Educational Specialists.
  • Meet regularly with the Program Coordinator, external contractors, and other internal staff to discuss current project participants and planned activities.
  • Coordinate with community partners to collect data as necessary for reporting purposes.
  • Complete and submit reports as required.
  • Coordinate the search process for contractors and oversight of deliverables by contractors.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all electronic and paper files by following strict security protocols and limiting access to project employees.
  • Provides support and coordination for educational programs, including but not limited to written and verbal communication with clients and partnering ANHC departments, coordination with internal and external contracted vendors including culture bearers, artists, and Native Youth Games athletes.
  • Support internal ANHC programming for various departments as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Three to five years’ experience managing grant programs
  • Or five to seven years of related experience.
Knowledge
  • Have knowledge of Alaska, Alaska’s history, and Alaska Native civics.
  • Have understanding of ANHC’s mission, direction, and history or be willing to receive training.
  • Familiarity with local available service agencies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of FERPA and HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  • Contributes to department growth and goals to improve services and quality of the educational programs.
Skills
  • Have advanced writing and public speaking skills.
  • Have advanced computer skills, including all Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Skill in the use of copier, fax, and other office equipment.
  • Advanced skills with the use of virtual products, such as Go To Meeting , Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Advanced skills with all social media platforms.
  • Willing to learn the operation of all audio and visual equipment.
Abilities
  • Ability to assess programs being selected are appropriate to level of participant per educational treatment plans.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals with varying strengths and abilities.
  • Be able to prepare reports in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and/or holidays.
Other Responsibilities
  • Additional duties as assigned based on the needs of the business.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Weather:
    • Indoors:
      Primarily in an environmentally controlled office;
    • Outdoors:
      Determined by Alaska’s weather, when visiting programs and partners, in accordance with municipalities rules and regulations, and ANHC’s COVID‑19 mandates.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
    • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
