This position is dedicated to carrying out the implementation of the transformational project focused on bringing healing to the Alaska Native community. This role will be charged with coordinating artist selection for development and installation of monuments in the Traditional Healing Garden at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. The role will also coordinate across departments in the organization to ensure that there is proper landscaping, plant management, service to stakeholders, and oversight of conservation to the arts within the garden.
The Community Healing Manager will maintain records of the programs that are held within the space and will serve as a coordinator for community engagements within the space. This position is anticipated to work closely with the Alaska Native community to facilitate healing programs within the space. Additionally, this role will work closely with the Curatorial/Collections department at ANHC to ensure proper conservation treatments of the arts within the garden.
- Coordinate with the Alaska Native community to select artists for installation of monuments into the Traditional Healing Garden
- Execute a Healing Oral History Project.
- Maintain records of landscaping, plants, harvesting, community programming, and other activities which occur within the Traditional Healing Garden.
- Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment, and information.
- Liaise with partners to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives for activities within the garden.
- Assign tasks to internal teams and assist with schedule management.
- Maintain awareness of the budget associated with the garden.
- Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
- Act as the point of contact for all aspects of the garden.
- Engage with stakeholders about the use of the space.
- Use tools to monitor working hours, plans and expenditures.
- Issue all appropriate legal paperwork (e.g. contracts and terms of agreement).
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, plans, and reports.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
- Strong interest in traditional healing, horticulture, arts, and culture.
- Individual will need good communication skills.
- Individual must have the ability to multi-task and have the ability to use good judgment.
- Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions typical for Anchorage Alaska Summers and /or Winters.
Quiet to moderate.
Physical requirements:Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
