This position is an opportunity for a hands‑on engineer eager to learn, passionate about Linux and open‑source technologies. You will support customers across cloud, desktop and IoT, triage complex issues, and deliver an expert level of support while owning your cases end‑to‑end. The role is fully remote, with a regular weekend working rotation.
Responsibilities- Work from home to provide technical support for employees via telephone, email and web.
- Act as an internal customer advocate, keeping stakeholders updated in a timely manner.
- Ensure each support case is handled according to our SLA with the highest customer satisfaction.
- Contribute new knowledge‑base articles, maintain existing ones, and draft technical notices for internal and external communication.
- Prioritise work to focus on the most important and urgent tasks first.
- Keep learning as products and services evolve.
- Understand the Ubuntu development process to set accurate customer expectations.
- Maintain regular communication and information exchange with the team, locally and remotely.
- Identify and suggest opportunities to improve service quality.
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative path (preferred majors: Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
- Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas.
- Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting (collecting logs, stack traces, fine‑tuning configuration).
- Knowledge or basic hands‑on experience with at least two of:
- Linux server administration
- Programming fundamentals (bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, Go)
- Networking (bonding, firewalling, bridging, switching, NFS tuning, MTU issues, etc.)
- Virtualisation/cloud concepts (provisioning, monitoring, orchestration, etc.)
- Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change, and handle customer‑facing pressure.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Respectful of diversity, effective in a multi‑cultural, multinational environment.
- Result‑oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
- Experience supporting virtualised environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMware).
- Experience with other open‑source desktop technologies.
- Active contribution to open‑source projects, forums, or code.
