The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Exercise Physiologist is responsible for developing and implementing individual exercise prescriptions for customer-owners, as well as facilitating and supervising exercise classes and programs. They monitor, interpret, and document vital signs and physiological responses to exercise. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, divisions, and villages to address the individualized needs and/or chronic conditions of customer-owners.

This position has two levels, designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between levels is based on demonstrated ability to handle more responsibilities successfully.

SCF programs primarily serve Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and needs of this population, which is critical to achieving SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and its mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services.

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field (e.g., Kinesiology).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, and PALS may be required for specialty roles or as per scope of practice.

• Two years of experience in a healthcare setting wellness program, with experience in preventative health, rehabilitation, and exercise education; OR a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
• Certification in relevant clinical exercise programs (e.g., ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, or Medical Exercise Specialist Certification).
