Summary

Under limited supervision, provides guidance to the clinical component of the Purchased Referred Care team, supports operations of inpatient, outpatient, and specialty clinics, and assists with departmental reporting, resource management, and outcome monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to assigned staff.
  • Develop goals and priorities in conjunction with employees.
  • Monitor departmental operations and facilitate continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative data collection for special projects.
  • Provide clinical direction, assign nursing case management caseloads, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Develop systems to monitor admissions, transfers, and case reviews.
  • Analyze patient records for PRC authorization.
  • Create guidelines for reauthorization and transition of care.
  • Analyze trends and evaluate program requirements.
  • Compile and maintain reports and statistical information.
  • Collaborate with PRC Medical Claims Supervisor to improve workflows.
  • Coordinate with ancillary staff and serve as liaison with ANMC, regional organizations, and agencies.
  • Provide guidance, training, and education to medical staff and outside agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of nursing care principles, case management auditing, and IHS/ATHS.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding (ICD‑10‑CM, HCPCS).
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws.
  • Skill in strategic planning, staff management, and delegation.
  • Skill in building cooperative relationships and prioritizing tasks.
  • Skill in evidence‑based practice and patient care planning.
  • Skill in written and oral communication.
  • Skill in operating a PC with Microsoft Office.
Minimum Education Qualification

Bachelor's degree in nursing or progressive work experience (year‑for‑year substitution).

Minimum Experience Qualification

Non‑supervisory: 5 years of nursing, including hospital/case management. Supervisory: 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience Qualification

Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System.

Preferred Certification Qualification
  • Current registered nurse license in the State of Alaska.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
