Overview
The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) is responsible for providing the comprehensive medical-forensic examination for adult and adolescent patients reporting a history of interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault or domestic violence, including victims and suspects. The FNE delivers quality nursing care to the population by utilizing the nursing process, approved scope and standards, and in accordance with the Alaska Nurse Practice Act.
The FNE must assess and analyze patient information with understanding of cognitive, physical, cultural, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation processes. The FNE functions within an environment of crisis involving sensitive issues, often with physical trauma, psychological trauma, and substance use. The FNE collaborates with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to provide quality services to all clients who present for care and maintains good working relationships with team members to ensure a patient-centered and sensitive response.

HoursFull Time Night Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week. Part Time Night Shift: 2 x 12-hour shifts per week.
Required Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire.
- 1 year nursing experience.
- Current certification of completion of 40-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) upon hire.
- 16-hour SANE Clinical Skills Lab (CSL training) upon hire.

The posted wage range for this position is $43.29 - $76.06 per hour. Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience and other factors. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, incentive pay, or bonuses.
