SummaryResponsible for maintaining the compliance of the Alaska Native Medical Center and Primacy Care Clinic with Mammography Quality Standard Act (MQSA), American College of Radiology (ACR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC); and manages the certifications, re-certification, and accreditations of all entities in Licensing and Regulatory boards.
Responsibilities- Accreditation of the Sentinel Node Program through the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
- Prepare and implement quality control including calculation, identification, proper disposal, storage, and safe handling of radiopharmaceutical sources in compliance with NRC regulations.
- Coordinate MQSA inspections and recertifications; ensure compliance with MQSA, ACR recertification, and reaccreditation processes.
- Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with MQSA, ACR, and NRC regulations; ensure reporting complies with guidelines for communicating Diagnostic Imaging Findings and the MQSA Final Rule.
- Coordinate Quality Control procedures and Quality Assurance programs with procedure manuals; maintain logs in compliance with MQSA.
- Maintain Procedure Manuals regarding Policies and Procedures related to Quality, Patient Education, Infection Control, Safety, and Patient Follow-up.
- Monitor the Sentinel Lymph Node Program to ensure instrumentation, credibility, and reliability align with ALARA and NRC regulations.
- Supervise record keeping to maintain MQSA standards and provide reviews to the Chief Radiologist and Medical Physicists.
- Implement ALARA principles; supervise procedural changes and improvements with staff.
- Assist Radiologist with Lymphoscintigraphy procedures.
- Ensure Medical Physicists conduct Surveys, Audits, and equipment evaluations; ensure optimal operation.
- Coordinate inspections with inspectors to ensure compliance for Accreditation and Licensure by ACR, MQSA, and NRC.
- Serve as Breast Care Coordinator for the Medical Imaging Department.
- Manage patient appointments and referrals for Breast Imaging studies including Breast Biopsies, Ultrasound-guided and Stereotactic biopsies, localization procedures, and Sentinel Lymph Node injections.
- Schedule imaging appointments and referrals; coordinate inter-facility referrals; liaison with multi-specialty clinics.
- Administer Annual Performance Evaluations for Mammography personnel; approve leave and coordinate staff replacements.
- Supervise the daily operation of the Mammography department; ensure high-quality exams to aid diagnosis and patient care.
- Develop goals and training plans; counsel, train, and coach staff; implement corrective actions.
- Engage with commercial representatives regarding new equipment and software upgrades; make recommendations to the Director on purchases and contracts.
- Supervise student training for Mammography and sign off on tests required for licensure.
- Collaborate with the Bio-Medical Department to ensure proper maintenance and optimal function of all mammography equipment.
- Maintain schedule flow, referrals, and accurate communication between ordering providers, surgical clinics, and staff.
- Liaison between multi-specialty clinics for breast imaging-related recommendations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of diagnostic technologist principles, practices, and concepts.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for MQSA, ACR, NRC;
Stereotactic Core Biopsy Program; and Lymphoscintigraphy. - Knowledge of screening and diagnostic protocols, radiology safety, infection control, and basic life support.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, hospital, and regulatory rules and regulations.
- Knowledge in implementing new protocols and coordinating procedural changes within the Department.
- Knowledge in coordinating inter-facility referrals and external facility communications.
- Knowledge with ALARA concepts and imaging software upgrades; ability to work with budgets and contracts.
- Skills in managing personnel leave and scheduling to ensure patient care coverage.
- Skills in performing screening and diagnostic mammography;
Stereotactic Guided Needle Biopsies and localization procedures. - Skills in assisting Radiologist with Sentinel Node injections and lymphoscintigraphy.
- Strong verbal and written communication; leadership and staff development; delegation and coaching.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and build cooperative relationships with staff and external agencies.
- Ability to address sensitive issues and provide counseling, training, and coaching to staff.
- Proficiency with various software applications; ability to interpret Policy and Procedures.
- Minimum Education Qualification — Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or related field from an AMA approved Medical Radiography Program.…
