ALASKA RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGThis position performs research on various criminal records from local and state agencies and is responsible for processing arrest and disposition information into the state’s criminal history repository. Additionally, the position coordinates and responds to requests for record reviews from the department, criminal justice agencies, and the public, and coordinates with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, courts, and correctional facilities to obtain source documents for criminal history events.

The criminal records unit processes all disposition information into the state’s criminal history repository. The repository is used by criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies throughout Alaska and nationwide, and the information maintained in the repository is critical for public safety to ensure decisions based on criminal history records are made using the most complete and accurate information available.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECTThis position is located in East Anchorage in the Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Headquarters building at 5700 East Tudor Road, which includes the following: the Chugach Mountains providing the backdrop for the building, ample parking, public transportation drop points located directly in front of the building, and paved trails adjacent to the building. Individual office space for this position is co-located with other criminal records unit staff to encourage team building and collaborative efforts.
