Job Information
Open to any current Municipal employee working within the Human Resources department. This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
HOURS: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: City Hall, 632 W 6th Avenue
ResponsibilitiesLocated in the Human Resources Department, this position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the classification system and position evaluation process for positions within the Municipality of Anchorage. Analyzes and evaluates requests for establishment of new positions, organizational structure modifications, and position description updates. Recommends classification for new and existing positions to ensure competitive, justifiable and fair compensation for employees.
Analyzes and assigns SAP relationships and SAP security roles pertinent to positions. The position responsibilities include compensation and job evaluation related activities in support of organizational goals and objectives. Provides advice to management in reorganizations, position classification, position and organization structure and design; conducts complex position studies, class series studies, salary surveys, and special studies, as required to support management, collective bargaining agreements, the Municipal Manager, the Mayor and a wide variety of purposes.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of human resources experience.
- OR Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and four (4) years of human resources experience.
- OR Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and two (2) years of human resources experience.

Military Service Interview PreferenceVeterans or those who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge.
The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration. Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment.
The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
