Position: Emergency Management Specialist 2 (090461)

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HLS&EM), is recruiting for an Emergency Management Specialist 2 in our Public Assistance Section.

What You Will Be Doing

As an Emergency Management Specialist 2 (EMS
2) you will implement and coordinate grant‑funded disaster recovery programs for statewide state and federal declared disasters. You will participate in disaster response and recovery field operations, support the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), manage emergency communications and requests for assistance from local communities, partner agencies, and governmental entities. You will deploy to communities across the state to help coordinate the state’s response efforts and support state and local disaster response, recovery, and preparedness plans.

Education, Experience & Other Requirements

One year of entry professional level experience mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, or recovering from emergencies, disasters, or terrorist events, or two years of experience creating contingency plans, conducting exercises, responding to events, or coordinating recovery. A bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional experience also qualifies.

A valid Alaska driver’s license is required; a federal security clearance may be required. Work may require 24‑hour on‑call duty and travel to remote locations.
