the sr. Environmental coordinator leads environmental compliance initiatives for airport construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring strict adherence to nepa, faa orders, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role provides strategic support to the envr mgr, guiding project teams, coordinating regulatory submissions, and maintaining high-level envr documentation. The sr. Envr coord serves as a key liaison with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, proactively identifying risks, streamlining compliance processes, and supporting leadership in envr decision-making.
this position is a 3-year term assignment contingent upon contract award. Employment beyond the term is not guaranteed and will be based on business/contract requirements.
primary job functionslead preparation, review, and coordination of environmental documentation for faa acceptance, real property actions, and nepa determinations, including categorical exclusions (catex), environmental assessments (eas), shpo/tribal coordination, and related studies.
advise and collaborate with environmental manager, operations lead, project directors, and engineering teams on complex environmental and nepa compliance issues.
oversee phase i/ii environmental site assessments and environmental due diligence for construction or modernization projects.
track environmental permits, approvals, and compliance obligations; maintain dashboards, logs, and reporting tools for timely renewals and submissions.
act as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, airport authorities, and faa environmental offices, supporting audits, inspections, and project reviews.
conduct site inspections and field visits to monitor environmental compliance, assess potential risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
mentor and guide junior environmental staff, providing training, technical guidance, and oversight on compliance activities.
compile, organize, and maintain environmental reports, mitigation plans, permit documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
monitor updates to environmental regulations, interpret impacts on projects, and advise leadership on necessary adjustments.
identify opportunities to improve environmental processes, optimize workflow, and ensure best practices across all projects.
perform additional duties as assigned, supporting leadership in complex, high-visibility environmental initiatives.

required: high school diploma or equivalent.
preferred: bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental studies, or related.
required: 4-6 years' experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or project support.
preferred: osha certification or environmental compliance training.
occasional exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals.
ability to perform site visits in airport and construction environments.
this position is contingent upon contract award and is anticipated to support a three-year contract term.
advanced knowledge of environmental regulations, including nepa, faa orders, and federal/state/local compliance requirements.
expertise in environmental management systems (ems) and implementation of environmental compliance programs.
strong understanding of hazardous waste management, spill prevention, and mitigation strategies.
proven ability to interpret complex environmental reports, plans, and regulatory requirements, and provide actionable recommendations.
exceptional organizational, documentation, and project management skills, with experience leading multiple projects simultaneously.
strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefings, technical memoranda, and regulatory submissions.
ability to guide, mentor, and coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
