JOB SUMMARYThe HSE Advisor / Consultant serves as a senior-level safety professional responsible for providing independent advisory support to Company leadership, operational teams, subcontractors, and customers. This role focuses on evaluating safety systems, reviewing documentation, and auditing operational activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Company policies.
The HSE Advisor / Consultant provides expert guidance on risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the development and implementation of effective health, safety, and environmental programs. This position emphasizes objective evaluation, compliance verification, and constructive recommendations to improve safety performance across Company operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESReview and evaluate HSE documentation, including policies, procedures, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), permits, and operational plans to ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements.
Conduct audits and compliance assessments of Company operations, subcontractors, and work activities to verify adherence to safety standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide consultative guidance to leadership, project teams, subcontractors, and customers on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation strategies, and best practices.
Evaluate incident investigations and corrective action plans to ensure appropriate root cause identification and implementation of effective solutions.
Perform periodic facility and operational audits of Company-controlled buildings, work sites, and safety programs.
Assess industrial hygiene monitoring activities and documentation related to high-risk work including hot work, confined space entry, and other regulated activities.
Prepare written reports summarizing audit findings, compliance evaluations, and recommended corrective actions.
Develop and present performance analyses, compliance reports, and improvement recommendations to leadership and operational teams.
Maintain working knowledge of Alaska Workers’ Compensation regulations and relevant federal and state safety requirements.
Promote the Company’s zero-incident safety culture by encouraging proactive risk identification, accountability, and continuous improvement across operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMust be authorized to work in the United States.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field with one (1) year of safety experience, or an Associate’s degree with four (2) years of safety experience required.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification required.
Ability to work an 84-hour workweek on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation required.
Minimum of five (1) year of professional HSE or safety experience required.
Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 regulations and familiarity with NFPA, NIOSH, ASME, and ANSI standards.
Experience conducting safety audits, compliance reviews, and program evaluations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, database systems, and documentation management tools.
