job summary

the senior permit coordinator leads and manages permitting activities for airport construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring full compliance with faa and all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for overseeing permit strategy, preparing and submitting complex permit applications, tracking approvals, and maintaining comprehensive regulatory documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

this position is a 3-year term assignment contingent upon contract award. Continued employment beyond the 3-year term is not guaranteed and will be based on business needs and contract requirements.

  • research and evaluate federal, state, local, and faa permitting requirements to support site feasibility, design development, and pre‑construction planning.
  • coordinate closely with the permit manager, operations lead, and project director to develop and execute comprehensive permitting strategies aligned with project scope, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
  • lead the preparation, review, and submission of complex permit applications, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable aviation, environmental, and construction regulations.
  • serve as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies, airport authorities, and governing jurisdictions to facilitate permit approvals, resolve comments, and negotiate requirements when appropriate.
  • provide advanced coordination with project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to obtain technical documentation, drawings, environmental data, and supporting materials required for permitting.
  • monitor, track, and proactively manage permit timelines, critical path milestones, and approval risks to prevent project delays and ensure on‑time project delivery.
  • maintain and oversee centralized permit tracking systems, logs, dashboards, and reporting tools to ensure full visibility into permit status across multiple concurrent projects.
  • review regulatory comments, identify compliance risks, and coordinate corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of permit deficiencies and approval conditions.
  • maintain official records of permit approvals, regulatory correspondence, inspection documentation, and compliance reports in accordance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • support senior leadership by providing detailed permitting status reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies for active and upcoming projects.
  • interpret and apply faa regulations, airport authority requirements, environmental regulations, and construction codes to ensure project compliance throughout the permit lifecycle.
  • assist in developing and implementing permitting workflows, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency, standardization, and regulatory compliance across projects.
  • provide guidance and subject matter support to project teams on permitting requirements, sequencing, and regulatory compliance considerations.
  • support regulatory inspections, audits, and agency coordination activities to ensure continued compliance with approved permits and applicable regulations.
  • identify permitting risks early and escalate critical issues to senior leadership while recommending practical solutions to maintain project timelines.
  • support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline permitting processes and enhance coordination with regulatory agencies.

education, experience and certification
  • required: high school or equivalent.
  • required: 4-6 years' experience in construction permitting, regulatory coordination, or project administration.
  • preferred: bachelor's degree
  • preferred: familiarity with construction drawings and technical documentation.
