SAFETY Coordinator - Range​/NON

Port of Alaska Safety Program Manager

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

• Maintain and manage the POA Safety Program.
• Provide expertise regarding safety codes and OSHA federal and state industry standards.
• Maintain and complete the OSHA 300 logs accurately.
• Schedule and create presentations for monthly safety briefings to Port admin and maintenance staff.
• Chair the Port of Alaska Stakeholder Safety Committee.
• Communicate effectively and train workers in all aspects of safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Port Director.

• Education and Experience: High School diploma, GED or equivalent and eight (8) years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.
• OR Associate’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies or a discipline related to occupational health and safety and six (6) years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies or a discipline related to occupational health and safety and four (4) years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.
• OR Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies or a discipline related to occupational health and safety and two (2) years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.

• Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
• American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification within 90 days of hire.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Organization Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
• Conditional employment based on a satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history.
