Term Instructor Communication

Overview

The Department of Communication, within the Community and Technical College at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), invites applications for a full-time Term Instructor of Communication beginning August 2026. UAA's Department of Communication serves a diverse student population across Alaska and beyond, including dual-enrolled high school students, first-generation college students, military personnel, returning adults, and English language learners. The Department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a minor in Communication, and four Oral Communication General Education Requirement (GER) courses that serve the university's general education mission, including COMM A111:
Fundamentals of Oral Communication, COMM A237:
Interpersonal Communication, COMM A241:
Small Group Communication, and COMM A243:
Public Speaking.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Communication and experience teaching Communication courses at the post-secondary level. They will demonstrate innovative, student-centered teaching practices and a commitment to collaboration in achieving shared goals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters in Communication or related field, PhD preferred.
• Record of college service or demonstrated potential for service.

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. This is a full-time, 9-month, term-funded, non-tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
