The UAA Department of Recreation is currently accepting applications for lifeguard positions at the AVIS Alaska Sports Complex. This diverse division supports student‑athletes in meeting their academic and athletic goals and provides all UAA students the opportunity for physical development on the Anchorage campus.
Advanced Swimming Skills RequiredFrom the outset, candidates must demonstrate advanced swimming skills.
Minimum Qualifications- Lifeguard certification, or completion of certification within 30 days of the job start date.
- UAA Safe Title IX training, or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.
- Behavior Based Safety (BBS) training, or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.
- Workplace Harassment Prevention training, or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.
- Enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
- For employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
- Do not work hours that interfere with class attendance.
- Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
Student Assistant 2 – $13.82 per hour.
This position is located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage.
Job Requirements- No prior lifeguard experience is required.
- Work up to 20 hours per week while taking classes. Students may work between semesters if they meet the credit and GPA requirements, in which case they may be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week.
- This is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed and submission does not guarantee an offer.
