Job Statement / PurposeResponsible for day‑to‑day operations and activities under the Ilakucaraq Project. This project provides support for Alaska Native youth and the educators that serve them throughout the state. The program offers immersion‑based cultural programs for students, intensives in partnership with schools, and professional development for teachers in partnership with the Alaska Humanities Forum. The program is operational from 2025 to 2028 and will entail several efforts to ensure its seamless implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Execute project goals and deliverables.
- Develop and deepen community partnerships relevant to the Ilakucaraq Project.
- Supervise the Cultural Program Coordinator, interns assigned to the project, and contractors.
- Meet regularly with the Cultural Program Coordinator, external contractors, and other internal staff to discuss planned activities.
- Coordinate with community partners to collect data for reporting purposes.
- Complete and submit reports as required.
- Coordinate the search process for contractors and oversee contractors’ deliverables.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of electronic and paper files.
- Assist participants with necessary paperwork to participate in program.
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Three to five years’ experience managing grant programs, or five to seven years of related experience.
- Knowledge of Alaska, Alaska’s history, and Alaska Native cultures.
- Understanding of ANHC’s mission and history, or willingness to receive training.
- Familiarity with local service agencies.
- Demonstrated understanding of FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
- Development of curricula, programmatic schedules, and scopes of work for contractors.
- Advanced writing and public‑speaking skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including all Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Skill in the use of copier, fax, and other office equipment.
- Advanced skills with virtual products such as Go To Meeting , Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
- Willingness to learn operation of all audio‑visual equipment.
- As a mandated reporter, assess and determine visible signs and subtle clues that lead to the need to report in order to protect a child’s wellbeing.
- Assess program appropriateness to level of participant per plans.
- Work with a diverse group of individuals with varying strengths and abilities.
- Prepare reports in Word and Excel.
- Multi‑task and meet deadlines.
- Additional duties assigned based on business needs.
- Primarily indoors in a climate‑controlled office.
- Outdoors depending on Alaska’s weather when visiting programs and partners, in accordance with municipal rules and ANHC’s COVID‑19 mandates.
- Quiet to moderate.
- Lift and/or move up to 25 lb.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
