Under general supervision, the Clinical Instructor is responsible for multiple educational, developmental, and training functions including provision of clinical education to undergraduate nursing students, mentoring new graduate nurse employees, managing the ANMC Education and Training Center, and coordinating classroom trainings to improve quality and effectiveness in health care delivery.
- Collaborates with educators and administrators at local, state, regional, and national levels to implement best practices.
- Reviews and disseminates policy changes at ANMC and rural facilities, ensuring compliance with national standards.
- Mentors new nurses, provides orientation, and delivers continuing education.
- Assesses training needs and develops, implements, evaluates, and revises clinical education programs.
- Delivers training using adult learning concepts and facilitation skills.
- Updates training content and schedule, researching new training materials.
- Serves as clinical faculty for Alaska Pacific University prelicensure nursing students, coordinating with APU faculty.
- Maintains communication with interprofessional teams in the clinical learning environment.
- Prepares, administers, and scores evaluative tools; provides necessary records to support credentialing and accreditation.
- Participates in committees and program development, meeting changing program needs.
Minimum Education
:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
Minimum Experience
:
Three (3) years of clinical care experience in specialty area demonstrating leadership skills and ability to work within a team environment, effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, data analysis and research interpretation skills, training skills, and computer/word processing skills.
Minimum Certification
:
- Current registered nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support card.
- Current AHA ACLS and PALS provider card (or eligibility to obtain within 3 months of hire).
- Knowledge of ANTHC and Alaska Native Medical Center mission and vision.
- Proficiency in personal computers and word processing, spreadsheets, presentation design, and database applications.
- Proficiency with audio‑visual and training equipment and specialized patient care equipment.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease concepts.
- Knowledge of educational theories and instructional methods.
- Ability to develop lesson plans and deliver training programs.
- Adult learning principles and effective presentation techniques.
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
- Writing skills and ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
- Prioritization, coordination, and implementation skills in a complex environment.
- Internet and intranet resource utilization skills.
- Forecasting and budgeting skills.
- Instruction of resuscitation equipment safety operations.
- Professional oral and written communication abilities.
- Conflict resolution and team building facilitation skills.
- Process improvement and change management skills.
- Patient care issue analysis and training program development skills.
- Planning, organizing, scheduling, and conducting in‑service training classes.
