Position: Receptionist (Part-Time)

Description

A mid‑size engineering firm in Anchorage, Alaska is looking to hire a part‑time receptionist. The shift is Monday‑Friday onsite 9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. This role is a six‑month contract to hire. The pay rate is $25–$27 per hour. The receptionist is responsible for performing clerical tasks—answering phone calls, sorting and delivering mail, greeting visitors—and delivering exceptional customer service and a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities
  • Process bills and assist clients or customers with questions about their charges.
  • Organize files for billing, customer and client records.
  • Direct visitors to the correct office.
  • Respond to all customer inquiries politely and promptly.
  • Effectively answer and direct phone calls to the correct department.
  • Welcome and greet visitors in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Maintain and stock the reception area and all common areas, ensuring a clean and tidy environment (kitchen, bathroom, conference room, etc.).
  • Operate standard office equipment regularly, including fax machine, copy machine, and computer.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of visitor requests and of calls received.
  • Receive deliveries; sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Take inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
  • Maintain the general office filing system.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in an office environment.
  • Results‑driven, persistent, and self‑directed with the ability to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Comfortable multitasking and prioritizing tasks without ongoing guidance.
  • Strong time‑management skills to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner throughout the day.
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Proficient technology usage skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge such as PowerPoint or Excel is a bonus.
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Ability to operate scanners, copiers, and printers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Basic data entry and scanning skills.
