Position: Administrative Assistant 1 (090144)

About the Position

Administrative Assistant 1, General Government Bargaining Unit (General Government Bargaining Unit – GGU, range 12). This position is open to Alaska residents only and is located with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS&EM) at Joint Base Elmendorf/Fort Richardson.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide in‑depth administrative support to DHS&EM, including office management, policy implementation, travel coordination, payroll, human resources, fiscal oversight, and assistance during emergency and disaster response activities to ensure smooth organizational operations.

Experience Requirements

ատտավու six months of advanced clerical experience, such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, or equivalent. Alternatively, 이미 six months of any combination of post‑secondary education (≥180 semester hours) and/or advanced‑level clerical experience. Advanced clerical experience examples include: reviewing applications/documents for accuracy, applying regulations, providing information on administrative procedures, tracking expenditures, completing paperwork, composing letters/memoranda, and reviewingкор forms for accuracy.

Education Requirements

If post‑secondary education is required, provide the number of units completed. Transcripts must be submitted with the application or at interview if education is used to meet minimum qualifications. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized credential‑recognition service.

Travel and

Physical Requirements

Travel within and outside Alaska, including remote areas, by government vehicle or commercial transport. Possible deployments during catastrophic disaster response may require rapid deployment, extended shifts, austere environments, and accommodation in tents, sleeping bags, or cabins. Stamina and stress tolerance are essential.
