Job Summary
We seek an experienced Security System Specialist II to support the installation, startup, commissioning, and servicing of advanced building security and special systems. This hands-on technical role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, field experience, and familiarity with industry-standard platforms such as Lenel and Genetec.
You will play a critical role in delivering reliable, code-compliant solutions to commercial and industrial clients while working closely with installation and service teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform system startup and commissioning, including point-to-point checkout and alarm/device verification
- Troubleshoot installation, configuration, and service-related issues
- Provide technical support to installation teams and site contractors
- Ensure proper backups of all software and system configurations
- Maintain and service existing systems to ensure compliance and operational integrity
- Assist in the creation of as-built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals
- Help transition projects from operations to service
- Support the sales team during estimating and demonstration phases as needed
- Participate in on-call emergency response rotations
- Accurately complete work orders, service reports, and time entries
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing security systems
- Proficiency with Lenel and Genetec platforms
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Skilled in using electronic testing tools such as volt meters and oscilloscopes
- Ability to read and interpret electronic/electrical schematics
- Understanding of AC power systems, breakers, and multi-phase configurations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Associate degree or technical certification in a relevant field
- Certifications in Lenel, Genetec, or Avigilon
- Over 5 years of experience with Lenel or Genetec systems
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders on construction sites
- Kneel, stoop, and crawl in confined spaces
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per company policy
Compensation
- $45.00 - $52.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
