Truck Driver, Heavy Equipment Operator
The Enhancement Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy and specialized equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The Enhancement Equipment Operator must clean, maintain, secure all equipment and if necessary, will recommend the machines be sent out for repair. Common tasks may include, but are not limited to transporting and relocating equipment, site grading, hardscape subgrade preparation, digging tree holes, material loading/hauling, removing spoils and other site debris, and trenching.
The Associate will regularly inspect the equipment for safety and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). report unsafe conditions to his Supervisor, and follow Company protocols for equipment safety and maintenance. Heavy equipment may include Company trucks/vehicles, dump trucks, low beds, lift gates, brush chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, backhoes, walk behind/ride on trenchers, skip loaders, excavators, graders, compactors, and other equipment as assigned.
- Operates different/specialized type of equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Safely operates equipment including, but not limited to:
Company vehicles, trailers, trenchers, skid steers, backhoes, excavators, grading tractors, generators, portable power tools and hand tools to effectively complete job assignments. - Inspects equipment daily and records inspections before commencing the workday to ensure the equipment is safe for operations.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly safety and maintenance inspections.
- Advises Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs on equipment to ensure safe operations.
- Transport and relocates equipment utilizing Company trucks and trailers.
- Ensures equipment is safely and securely stored at the end of each day.
- Performs a variety of technical and manual labor activities.
- Maintains cleanliness of assigned trucks and equipment at all times.
- Utilizes and maintains various types of personal protective clothing and gear.
- Participates in and ensures trucks and equipment are properly to service after incidents, usage, and or training events.
- Participates in training classes to maintain driving and operating techniques and certifications.
- Reports all incidents or accidents and completes/submits the required forms, documents and/or reports as required.
- Completes daily assignments, efficiently and accurately, to maintain the highest level of productivity.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to operate Company trucks/vehicles, trailers, and equipment safely, appropriately, and effectively.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to understand and follow instructions both verbally and written.
- Ability to efficiently and accurately utilize an electronic handheld device to record employee time worked.
- Must have the ability to interact effectively with other Associates, clients, and management.
- Effectively utilizes the proper equipment to perform all jobs safely, making accident prevention a part of daily conduct.
- Must be proficient in the operation of standard equipment which includes:
Company vehicles, trailers, trenchers, skid steers, backhoes, excavators, grading tractors, generators, portable power tools and hand tools. - Adheres to all Company safety practices and policies as well as OSHA requirements.
- Ability to efficiently and accurately use an electronic hand held device to record Associate time worked.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- A California Commercial (Class A or
B) driver’s license is preferred, but not required. - Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in operating and towing construction equipment is required.
