SummaryThe Key Account Manager II is a salesperson responsible for meeting sales quotas and expense budgets for assigned clients by managing sales programs, promotional spending, distribution levels, shelf placement, and strategic planning initiatives. Clients are manufacturers, vendors, or brands contracted with Advantage as their sales force, while customers are retailers, wholesalers, or distributors.
This teammate collaborates with clients to develop strategic plans, works with retailer associates on headquarters calls to implement programs, owns the client relationship, decides on spending trade funds, and signs, implements, and executes contracts on behalf of clients. They also work closely with internal Advantage associates to increase sales volume and may serve one or multiple clients.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive business at assigned customers: increase distribution, grow sales dollars, units, share, and other KPIs while staying on spend.
- Ensure retail/merchandising execution and basic eCommerce execution.
- Achieve targeted income and expense budgets by implementing promotional and marketing strategies.
- Analyze trends and results to identify growth opportunities and make recommendations to clients and customers.
- Monitor and drive growth through efficient management of promotional spending within guidelines.
- Meet budgetary goals by maintaining strict control and accounting of accrual and bill‑back funds.
- Meet expectations for managing period‑ending fund balance performance with no overspends vs. trade budget.
- Exceed client goals for sales, distribution, share, pricing, shelving, and promotional volume.
- Launch strategies to pursue new opportunities.
- Implement retailer headquarters calls and penetrate key retailer positions: achieve sales goals while managing promotional funds within financial guidelines; update retail pricing and order guides; secure client‑approved schematics; ensure incremental sales through new product distribution; collaborate with category management on retailer presentations; manage accounts to achieve targeted ACV on Innovation.
- Build and maintain effective client and retailer relationships, ensuring customer access and client perspective.
- Demonstrate sales accomplishments and opportunities by developing sales presentations for customers and clients.
- Offer strategic input for annual business plans, problem‑solving, ongoing customer management, and create win‑win scenarios.
- Provide timely communication on client goals, programs, price changes, and priorities.
- Manage difficult situations, issues, and conflicts to reach effective outcomes.

Education and ExperienceEducation Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: 4–6 years managing or working closely with key retailers (category managers, buyers, etc.) and managing high‑value accounts.
A solid track record of developing long‑term relationships and delivering on customer objectives (sales growth, promotional execution).

Travel and driving are essential duties. Travel up to 20% of the time.
