A Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all dietary supplement products comply with the specifications established by Meri Cal and cGMPs. The inspector conducts objective and subjective measures, determining if any non‑conformance occurred. The role guarantees high quality output through random sampling and testing at receiving, in‑process manufacturing, and finished packaging stages. Items that do not meet specifications are investigated and corrective actions are documented to prevent recurrence.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices [21 CFR Parts 111, 117 & 211] are adhered to.
- Independently perform inspections across multiple production stages, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Follow instructions to comprehend quality expectations for materials, components, or products.
- Conduct sampling (analytical, microbial, customer, etc.) and ensure testing against appropriate methods; maintain records of testing and metrics such as quantity of defective products per batch.
- Communicate to next‑level leader prior to rejecting raw materials, in‑process manufacturing, or finished product in accordance with quality standards.
- Perform in‑process testing (allergen, ATP, water activity, Brix, hardness, thickness, friability, etc.) and provide guidance to the manufacturing team on corrective actions for out‑of‑spec results.
- Verify bill of materials and ensure proper tagging and organization of raw materials, components, staged bulk, and finished goods on the production floor, including reconciliation and pallet counts.
- Enter quality data and verify expiration dates into the ERP system prior to finished goods release.
- Verify batch record matches items staged within manufacturing and packaging lines.
- Verify monitoring equipment (scales, metal detectors, torque meters, etc.) is functioning correctly per established SOPs.
- Conduct bulk and final product AQL inspections per established SOPs, understanding varying sampling schemes based on sample size and AQL parameters.
- Review cleaning logs and provide verification signature to release lines.
- Ensure proper hold procedures and communicate any unusual occurrences or pertinent issues that affect raw materials, production, or packaging.
- Inspect and maintain the working environment routinely, ensuring adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
- Operate forklift, pallet jacks, etc., if needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience working in a quality‑related environment.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 25–30 lbs. of material when needed.
- Food safety or dietary supplement experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or certificate; one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The current base pay range for this position is $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, though compensation may vary based on geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and/or education.
