About the Role

The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the branch, working closely with the General Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of electrical services for events of all sizes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight
  • Assist the GM with operational duties including estimates, show management, revenue capture, and auditing.
  • Manage labor schedules, lead labor meetings, and create event team schedules for GM’s approval.
  • Coordinate with General Foreman/Utility Services Manager to meet business needs.
  • Oversee and manage project timelines and labor allocation for electricians, expeditors, and Event Managers to ensure efficient execution of all job site activities.
  • Ability to manage and service or labor desk and assist in any show site role (service desk, labor desk, floor managing).
  • Lead event audits and act as lead for large/sensitive events.
  • Attend facility, client, and exhibitor meetings.
  • Coordinate contractor/3 rd party services and ensure timely invoicing.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the facility contract(s), as well as local union rules and jurisdiction.
  • Serve as Acting General Manager when required, maintaining continuity in leadership and decision-making.
  • Assist GM with rate sheets selection, including service and labor rates.
  • Provide financial and operational updates to the General Manager.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting as needed regarding e-payments and financial compliance.
  • Oversee event balances and exhibitor payables to ensure collection prior to event closing.
  • Manage the use of the Labor Cost Worksheet for events.
  • Client & Partner Engagement
  • Maintain excellent relationships with personnel at all levels—company, facilities, partners, clients, and exhibitors.
  • Interface with partners, clients, and exhibitors to resolve issues and meet event timelines.
  • Business Development
  • Support the General Manager in preparing reports including facility updates, rolling forecasts, and annual projections.
  • Collaborate with GM & Sales Team to ensure messaging is conveyed consistently regarding services offered throughout, share leads and generate new business, both internally and externally.
  • Maintain a schedule of future event sites, with regular reporting to Sales.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the team.
  • Provide operational support to Event Services Coordinators, Event Services Managers and Senior Event Services Managers in the planning and preparation of events, including helping to understand contracts, direct communication with facilities, associations, decorators, audiovisual companies, and exhibitors. In addition, attending site visits, pre-event meetings, and other meetings when necessary.
  • Work with the GM to evaluate event production and electrical staff performance.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with Event Managers to promote consistency in procedures, ensure compliance with company standards, and foster open communication among the team.
