Senior Director, Legal Affairs – Labor & Employment, Safety & Security
Full-Time | Onsite | Anaheim, CA
Base Salary Range: $210,000 – $260,000 annually
Bonus eligible
OverviewA prominent entertainment and venue operations organization is seeking a Senior Director of Legal Affairs to lead labor and employment, safety, and security legal functions. This role serves as a key legal advisor to Human Resources, Security, and executive leadership, with responsibility for employment litigation, regulatory compliance, occupational health and safety, and risk mitigation strategies.
The Senior Director will manage a complex employment and labor portfolio, oversee health and safety compliance (including Cal/OSHA), and partner with ownership-level legal teams to align enterprise-wide legal strategies.
Key ResponsibilitiesLabor & Employment Legal Leadership
- Oversee employment and labor litigation, including strategy, case management, and outside counsel oversight
- Advise Human Resources on employee relations, performance management, reasonable accommodations, investigations, and dispute resolution
- Provide guidance on California wage and hour laws, traditional labor matters, and employment compliance
- Respond to employment-related subpoenas, agency inquiries, and regulatory matters
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Lead legal support for workplace safety and occupational health initiatives, ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements
- Partner with Security leadership to develop and review policies, procedures, and readiness plans for large-scale events
- Advise on law enforcement requests, regulatory inquiries, and safety-related legal matters
- Support certification and compliance initiatives related to public safety and event security
Risk Management & Strategy
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and operational risk
- Analyze exposure data and provide regular reporting to senior leadership and ownership-level legal teams
- Align legal strategies with enterprise-wide labor, litigation, compliance, and exposure containment objectives
Investigations, Litigation & Discovery
- Oversee internal investigations while preserving legal privilege and advising on outcomes
- Manage internal and external discovery processes, including document review and production
- Review and approve motions, pleadings, and other litigation filings
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, translating complex legal issues into practical guidance
- Design and deliver training programs focused on employment law, compliance, and best practices
- Mentor and support junior legal team members
- Contribute to enterprise-wide policy development and strategic initiatives
Required
- Juris Doctor or equivalent professional degree
- 6+ years of legal practice experience
- Minimum 2 years of in-house legal experience in a corporate environment
- Extensive background in labor and employment law
- Experience managing litigation and advising on regulatory compliance
