We are seeking an experienced Director of Team Member Relations to lead the evolution and execution of a comprehensive employee relations strategy within a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-centric organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leaders, ensuring people practices, policies, and leader capabilities promote a consistent, values-driven team member experience.

The Director will focus on building scalable processes, tools, and frameworks that advance fairness, accountability, engagement, and compliance across the organization. A core component of the role is strengthening leader and manager capability to proactively address workplace issues and foster environments aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in employee relations, HR compliance, and organizational development, paired with the strategic presence and judgment to influence at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Program Development
  • Design and implement a comprehensive team member relations strategy that enables consistent, equitable, and legally compliant decision-making.
  • Codify and standardize enterprise-wide processes, templates, and tools for investigations, documentation, issue resolution, and policy application.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to embed employee relations practices that strengthen trust, engagement, and organizational culture.
  • Ensure readiness for new and evolving employment regulations through proactive compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
Leader & Manager Capability Building
  • Develop and deploy scalable training programs, toolkits, and playbooks to equip managers to navigate performance, conduct, and engagement conversations effectively.
  • Coach senior leaders and people managers on applying organizational values to everyday leadership decisions.
  • Establish mechanisms to assess and improve manager confidence, consistency, and effectiveness in handling team member issues.
Employee Relations & Risk Management
  • Provide expert oversight of complex, sensitive, or high-risk employee relations matters with fairness, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Serve as the escalation point for significant cases and act as a liaison with legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Monitor employee relations trends and metrics to identify systemic issues and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to ensure employee relations insights inform broader people and culture strategies.
Policy, Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead regular reviews of policies and procedures to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with business and cultural priorities.
  • Ensure consistent and equitable application of policies across all departments and locations.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and case management systems to deliver insights and trend analyses to senior leadership.
  • Benchmark against industry best practices and emerging legal trends to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR or employee relations experience, including leadership of multi-site or enterprise-level functions.
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing scalable employee relations processes, policies, and tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and California employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to build manager capability through training, coaching, and change initiatives.
  • Experience leveraging HR systems and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as required.
  • Advanced HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent) preferred.
  • $140,000 - $170,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)
