Reporting to the Vice President, the Director, Labor Relations leads site-specific negotiations efforts of Disney Experiences’ collective bargaining agreements with varying levels of complexity, ensuring that favorable agreements are reached consistent with overall Disney Experiences labor strategies and business objectives.
Additionally, the Director:
- Serves as a role model for diversity, equity, and inclusion, while providing strong and inspired day-to-day leadership to LR team members and oversight to Disney Experiences’ collective bargaining agreements.
- Provides counsel and support to various Operations and HR partners relative to the administration of the labor contracts. This includes a focus on talent development, mentorship, guidance, and training relative to contract content and administration.
- Provides oversight of anywhere from 8 to 20 CBAs covering our 47 unions - can answer questions about the terms of the contracts and can serve as a resource to both business leaders and HR Partners when contract terms need to be well understood.
- Serve as a Company Chief Negotiator, with a primary focus on collective bargaining negotiations and administration that have a ripple effect on overall, bi-coastal bargaining strategy and approach.
- Develop the strategy and execution of core day-to-day Labor Relations services including consultations and grievances, negotiations, arbitrations, effects bargaining, and Engaged Leadership Initiative (ELI) work stream.
- Ensure consistent, reliable, and seamless contract administration to build and reinforce a trust-based relationship union leadership.
- Accountable for comprehensive research and advocacy regarding the Company’s response to NLRB Agency Charges by providing insight and direction to LR Team Members.
- Assist with the administration of Taft-Hartley employee benefit plans.
- Manage the day-to-day regarding team members, including making hiring decisions, providing onboarding, coaching and training, setting priorities and assigning work, implementing discipline, and setting and assessing progress towards goals.
- Prepare reports, using records of action concerning grievances, arbitration case, and labor relations activities, to identify problem areas and trends.
- Drive segment-wide projects/initiatives related to core LR services.
- Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, or equivalent (e.g. negotiations preparation, bargaining, implementation and administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements).
- Demonstrated understanding of all labor and employment laws, including but not limited to NLRA, Title VII, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and state and local laws.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and nuanced understanding of the communication needs of different audiences and represent the Company in a professional manner.
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in field of Industrial Labor Relations, Labor Law or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications- JD or equivalent training and accreditation
