Overview

Director of Employee Relations to lead the continued evolution of a comprehensive employee relations strategy within a dynamic, fast-paced organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring that policies, practices, and leader capabilities consistently support a fair, compliant, and values-driven team member experience.

Job Title: Employee Relations Director

Location: Anaheim, CA (100% On-Site)

Pay Range: $170,000 - $183,000 + 20% Targeted Bonus

Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire

We are seeking an experienced Director of Employee Relations to lead the continued evolution of a comprehensive employee relations strategy within a dynamic, fast-paced organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring that policies, practices, and leader capabilities consistently support a fair, compliant, and values-driven team member experience.

The Director will focus on designing and scaling enterprise-wide processes, tools, and frameworks that promote accountability, consistency, and engagement. A core emphasis of this role is strengthening leader and manager capability to proactively address workplace issues and foster environments aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in employee relations, HR compliance, and organizational development, along with the ability to influence at all levels and operate effectively in a customer-centric environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Program Development
    • Design and implement a comprehensive team member relations strategy that enables consistent, equitable, and legally compliant decision-making across the organization.
    • Develop and standardize enterprise-wide processes, templates, and tools for investigations, documentation, issue resolution, and policy application.
    • Partner with HR and business leaders to embed employee relations practices that strengthen culture, trust, and engagement.
    • Lead organizational readiness for new or evolving employment regulations, ensuring proactive compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Leader & Manager Capability Building
    • Create and deploy scalable training programs, toolkits, and playbooks to equip managers with the skills to navigate performance, conduct, and engagement matters effectively.
    • Coach senior leaders and people managers on applying organizational values to everyday leadership decisions.
    • Establish feedback mechanisms to evaluate manager confidence, consistency, and effectiveness in addressing employee relations issues.
  • Employee Relations & Risk Management
    • Provide oversight and guidance on complex, sensitive, or high-risk employee relations matters, ensuring fairness, discretion, and alignment with organizational values.
    • Serve as the escalation point for significant cases and partner with legal counsel as needed.
    • Monitor employee relations metrics and trends to identify systemic risks and recommend proactive solutions to senior leadership.
    • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and executives to ensure employee relations insights inform broader people and culture strategies.
  • Policy, Governance & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead regular reviews of policies and procedures to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with evolving business needs and cultural priorities.
    • Ensure consistent application of policies across all locations and departments.
    • Leverage case management systems and data analytics to deliver insights and trend analyses to executive and HR leadership.
    • Benchmark against industry best practices and emerging legal trends to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR or employee relations, including leadership of multi-site or enterprise-level functions.
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing scalable employee relations processes, policies, and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and California employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to build manager capability through training, coaching, and change initiatives.
  • Exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, and executive-level influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Experience leveraging HR systems and analytics to drive insight and action.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as required.
Preferred Experience
  • HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in hospitality, entertainment, sports, or other customer-focused, fast-paced industries.
  • Experience working in unionized or represented environments.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.
