Job Description
Meals on Wheels Orange County is the largest nonprofit provider of nutrition and supportive services for at-risk older adults in Central and North Orange County. Our mission is to combat hunger and loneliness among older adults through nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks, and to support families through day services. We deliver nearly 2 million meals annually to 20,000 at-risk older adults.

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Hourly Range: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour (Hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience)
Position Overview:
Under general direction of the Program Director, the Activities Coordinator develops, implements, and supervises individual and group activity programs, which promote participant’s physical and emotional wellbeing and/or prevent further mental or physical deterioration. The Activity Coordinator works as an active team member of the Multi-Disciplinary team. Provides meaningful activities that promote social interaction, social stimulation, and a sense of belonging. Planned activities are to make the day meaningful for each participant.
- All essential job responsibilities will be executed in accordance with Meals on Wheels OC ADS Administrative policies and compliance/ethics guidelines.
- Develops implements and supervises a comprehensive activity program that meets the needs and desires of the participants and increases the quality of life for each participant.
- Research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration participants’ suggestions.
- Provides participants with a connection to the community and environment by conducting group activities that involve current events and reality orientation.
- Provides activities that are adult oriented, culturally diverse and are at a level where participants feel they are successful in completing the activity.
- Organize on-site activities and events.
- Assess the needs and interests of each participant and develop an individualized activity plan as part of the care plan developed by the assessment team.
- Completes activity assessments (Initial, Annual, and every 6‑month reassessment in addition to quarterly progress notes in each participant’s record.)
- Plans and implements the monthly activity calendar. Schedules planned activities one month in advance. Posts an activity calendar at the beginning of each month.
- Supervises volunteers who are assisting with planned activities.
- Performs other tasks as needed according to the center’s Program Director or Registered Nurse’s guidance.
- Two years’ experience in a social, recreational or educational program.
- Must complete an accredited Activity leader Course (at least 36 hours) designed specifically for Activity Coordinators working with seniors or adults with disabilities and approved for certification under licensing regulations.
- Current certification in CPR and first aid training required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must possess ability to relate to older persons and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
- Must pass a post-offer physical examination and obtain a tuberculosis clearance.
- Must have a valid California driver's license and valid automobile insurance.
