We are hiring a Collector who will collect on delinquent loans to minimize loan losses to the credit union while maintaining favorable member relations.

Business Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 7:00PM & Saturday, 9:00AM – 1:30PM.

  • Based upon business needs, this position may require flexibility to work a varied schedule between 8:00AM and 7:00PM, including rotating Saturdays, during regular business hours.
Location & Schedule

This position is based in Anaheim Hills, CA with an opportunity to work a hybrid-remote schedule consisting of 2 days in-office and 3 days working remote from home.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in collecting bad debts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with online data processing and online collection systems.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in all applicable MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Maintain a positive and professional behavior and image with credit union members, staff, management, and board.
  • Keep all credit union and member information confidential.
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with staff in other departments.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of policies, procedures, and related credit/collection laws necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, human relations, and negotiating skills.
  • Working knowledge of credit, bankruptcy, repossession, and collection laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated skills in collection, skip tracing, bankcard, and repossession.
  • Comprehensive understanding of bankruptcy proceedings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contact members with delinquent loans or accounts to determine circumstances and establish payment arrangements.
  • Maintain complete and detailed documentation of all collection activities on the collection system.
  • Receive telephone calls from members and others and respond to messages on the same day received.
  • Research and analyze all problems or member concerns related to a collection account.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding loan extensions, bankruptcy proceedings, repossessions, and charge-offs.
  • Ensure collection files are maintained neatly and accurately.
  • Apply the Exceptional Experience Guide expectations actively and comprehensively.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

We support Pay Transparency and are a pay-for-performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50th percentile of market data.

Pay Scale: $21.49 – $26.75 – $31.15 per hour (midpoints: $21.49, $26.75, $31.15). Actual compensation will be based on geographical location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
