About the Role

We’re seeking a Kitchen Prep to support the Director of Culinary Services in preparing meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. In this role, you’ll assist with food prep, basic cooking, and dishwashing while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and safely.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform routine kitchen tasks, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
  • Follow prep lists to plan daily duties
  • Label and stock ingredients so they are organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings for cooking
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and cutting vegetables, meats, and other items
  • Set up workstations and ingredients for recipe-based cooking
  • Perform basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling, and preparing simple dishes like salads and entrees
  • Ensure proper storage of food and supplies according to guidelines
  • Maintain a clean kitchen, including equipment, cooking surfaces, cold and dry storage, and dish storage areas
  • Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with safety standards
  • Foster teamwork, take initiative, and support coworkers, residents, and visitors
  • Report any elder maltreatment or abuse to the Director of Health and Wellness, Executive Director, and/or State
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of food service experience
  • Obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulation
  • Must be 18 years or older and meet all health requirements, including TB clearance
  • First Aid certification required
  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with residents, staff, and vendors
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and make decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Pleasant, professional, and personable demeanor
